APA Format: Computer Software

To cite computer software, a typical bibliography entry will appear as follows:

Miller, M. E. (1993). The Interactive Tester (Version 4.0) [Computer software]. Westminster, CA: Psytek Services.

The name(s) of the programmers are listed at the head of the entry, last names first, followed by a period. The date is listed next, in parentheses, followed by a period. The name of the software is included after this (which is not italicized), with brackets that specify what kind of source it is. The location and the organization's name that produced the program comes last, and closes with a period.

For more specific information, consult the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (Fifth Edition) or see the APA style website.
