  MLA Format: Artistic Works

With works of art, cite the name of the artist first, followed by an underlined title of the work. Next state the institution the work is located followed by a comma and the location of the institution. With photographs of works of art, the above should be followed by complete publication information of the text in which the photo appears.

With musical compositions, start with the composer's name, followed by an underlined title of the piece. However, do not underline compositions identified only by form, number, and key. With a published score, cite it like a book.

Beethoven, Ludwig van. Symphony no. 5 in A, op.92.
