The Center for Writing Studies, The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
  MLA Format: No Author Identified

When a text has no author identified, typical bibliographic entries will appear as follows:

"Come Away, Come, Sweet Love!" The Norton Anthology of English Literature. Ed. M. H. Abrams. 4th ed. Vol. 1. New York: W.W. Norton, 1979. 2.

If no author can be identified, then a text is alphabetized by the first word of its title, excluding definite or indefinite articles such as "A," "An," or "The" (note that "The Shepherd's Consort" precedes The Norton Anthology in a bibliographic entry). Do not use either "Anonymous" or "Anon." to designate that no author is identified.

For additional information, please see the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers (6th edition) and the MLA style website.
