MLA Format: Publication Information for Periodicals

In general, citations have the following information in this order: author's name, title of the article, title of the periodical, series name or number, volume number (for scholarly publications), date of publication, and page number. State the last name of author first, followed by a comma and then the first name. Give full title of the article within quotation marks. After an underlined title of the publication (omitting any introductory article), state the volume number and the year of publication in parentheses. Add a colon and a space followed by the page numbers of the article.
