Academic Writing Program
The Academic Writing Program (AWP) offers two sequences that fulfill the University’s Composition I requirement through an intensive, year-long focus on academic writing and approaches to research. The overall goal of the AWP sequences is to promote skills for writing in academic contexts across the university. Specifically, AWP fosters students’ ability to adapt to changing rhetorical situations and audiences; familiarity with conventions of source use and citation; and comfort with a variety of approaches to research and argumentation.
Program placement is determined by scores on the ACT English or SAT Verbal test.
