The Center for Writing Studies sponsors a variety of events for the benefit of faculty, staff, and students. These events range from social gatherings and interactive workshops to our colloquium series and research-in-progress brownbag lunch series. Friday, April 1:
Research-in-progress brownbag series with Sarah McCarthey (Curriculum and Instruction). The brownbag will be held 12:00-1:00 p.m. in 107A English Building.

Writing Studies Forum, YMCA, 2nd Floor, 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Thursday, April 7:
N. Katherine Hayles will present her talk, “Narrating Bits: Transformations of Storytelling in the Computational University,” for the Colloquium Series. The Colloquium will be held in room 126 of the Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences from 4:00-5:30 p.m.

Thursday, April 21:
Harvey Graff will present his talk, “Lessons from the History of Literacy/Literacy Studies at OSU,” for the Colloquium Series. The Colloquium will be held in room 126 of the Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences from 4:00-5:30 p.m.

Friday, April 22:
Brownbag talk with Kevin Roozen and Jody Shipka, who will talk about their experiences on the job market this past year. Members of the hiring committee for new Center for Writing Studies hire Spencer Shaffner will also talk about that hiring process. The brownbag will be held from

12:00-2:00 p.m. in 107A English Building.

Elizabeth Baldridge (English Department, Center for Writing Studies) will present her talk, “The Socially Incompetent: Learning Disabilities Defined in Relation to Work,” for the Center for Writing Studies Graduate Student Research Spring Colloquium.

Amy Wan (English Department, Center for Writing Studies) will present her talk, “Producing Good Citizens: Literary & Citizenship Training in Anxious Times,” for the Center for Writing Studies Graduate Student Research Spring Colloquium. Both talks will be held in room 126, Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences from 4:00-5:30 p.m.

Friday, February 18:
Research-in-progress brownbag series with Cara Finngean (Speech Communication). The brownbag will be held 12:00-1:00 p.m. in 107A English Building.

Rashid Robinson (Educational Policy Studies, Center for Writing Studies) will present his talk, “Building a Picture of Success: The Ad Council and The United Negro College Fund’s Ad Campaign, ‘A Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Waste’” for the Center for Writing Studies Graduate Student Research Fall Colloquium. Both talks will be held in room 126, Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences from 4:00-5:30 p.m.
