The Center for Writing Studies sponsors a variety of
events for the benefit of faculty, staff, and students. These events range
from social gatherings and interactive workshops to our colloquium series
and research-in-progress brownbag lunch series. For the dates of upcoming
events for this academic year, please see below. Schedules

Thursday, April 5:
K. Sunday Cummins (College of Education) will present her talk, "Examining the Complexities of 'Kidwatching' in a Context for Teacher Inquiry," for the Center for Writing Studies Graduate Student Research Spring Colloquium.
John Hudson (Department of English, Center for Writing Studies) will present his talk, "What's (Not) In It For Me?: LGBT (In)Visibility in Composition Readers," for the Center for Writing Studies Graduate Student Research Spring Colloquium.
Both talks will be held in room 126, Graduate School of Library and Information Science from 4:00-5:30 p.m.
Friday, April 20:
CWS graduate students will speak at a special forum, "Reflections on the Job Search." The meeting with be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m. (room 107).
Friday, April 27:
The Center for Writing Studies will hold a brownbag on the topic of connecting work on globalization to work in writing studies. This is just an informal forum to allow for discussion of plans, questions, and concerns about doing global research within the framework of writing studies. All interested CWS faculty and grads are invited to attend. 12:00-1:00 p.m. (room 107)

Chip Bruce (Library & Information Science) will speak at the research-in-progress brownbag
series. The brownbag will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. in 107A English

Thursday, March 29:
Steven J. Mailloux (Department of English and Comparative Literature, University of California, Irvine) will speak at the research-in-progress brownbag series. The brownbag, sponsored by the Trowbridge Office for American Literature, Culture, and Society, is entitled
"Rhetoric and American Literary Studies," and will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in the English
Building, room 232.
