Fellowship Payment Graduate students on fellowship for the Fall semester (8/16/07-12/15/07), will receive their last fellowship payment on 12/16/07.

Due to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), we now need to obtain photo release forms from ALL (new and returning) graduate students to publicize your photo and/or to acknowledge your activities and accomplishments in Footnotes. Please see Chris in 210 EB for a release form.

POSITION ANNOUNCMENTS
Instructor in English SOUTHEASTERN ILLINOIS COLLEGE is now accepting applications for the position of full-time INSTRUCTOR IN ENGLISH. Southeastern is a comprehensive community college of approximately 1,200 FTE with a headcount of 3,500. The College is located near Harrisburg (population 10,500) in rural southern Illinois at the edge of the Shawnee National Forest .
POSITION DESCRIPTION: This is a full-time tenure track position with primary teaching responsibilities in literature, rhetoric and composition. This is a mid-term hire beginning in January 2008.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Teach Rhetoric and Composition I and II during fall and spring semesters.
2. Teach upper level literature and writing courses, when necessitated by overall departmental assignments.
3. Teach course work in other areas of expertise, as assigned.
4. Show and display interest in various modes of instructional technology such as, but not limited to, online instruction and interactive 2-way video courses.
5. Demonstrate a broad conception of and commitment to diversity.
6. Sponsor and assist Humanities Division creative endeavors for students outside the traditional classroom environment, such as competitive teams, clubs, and/or organizations as assigned by the Division Chair, Vice President of Academic Affairs, and/or Dean of Academic Services.
7. Maintain regular office hours (each faculty member is required to be on campus a minimum of 30 hours per week, including teaching, and office-prep hours, and other college assignments).
8. Contribute to the overall well-being and vitality of the institution through the faithful discharge of committee assignments, student advisement assignments, student recruitment, professional development, assessment, division meetings, and other duties assigned by the Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dean of Academic Services and/or Division Chair.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree in English. Ph.D. preferred. If applicants possess a graduate degree but not in their area(s) of instruction, they should have the equivalent of 18 documentable graduate credits in the content area(s).Understanding of and commitment to the community college philosophy and prior teaching experience at the community college level is desirable.
COMPENSATION: The starting salary will be in accordance with the 2007-2008 schedule base rate. Overload and summer teaching are available. Fringe benefits include paid medical-hospitalization insurance for the employee, sick leave, business-personal days, and term life insurance.
BEGINNING DATE: The Spring term begins on or about January 14, 2008.
