How to Find a Job Outside Academia….Even if You Aren’t Sure That You Want One Have you ever considered what your job opportunities might be outside academia? Can a non-academic job really be rewarding? Are you afraid your options may be limited?
If so, join us on March 6 as Susan Basalla May, co-author of “So What Are You Going to Do With That?”: Finding Careers Outside Academe, talks about the challenges and opportunities for advanced-degree holders. Susan Basalla specializes in helping graduate students and faculty members find innovative ways to apply their skills outside academia, and she will provide graduate students with ideas and strategies for making the most of advanced degrees.
The first 200 graduate students to arrive to Dr. Basallas talk will receive a FREE copy of her book, “So What Are You Going to Do With That?”: Finding Careers Outside Academia, http://www.press.uchicago.edu/cgi-bin/hfs.cgi/00/222067.ctl.
Basalla earned her Ph.D. in English from Princeton University and worked in journalism and new media for six years before joining Art & Science Group, a consulting firm focused on higher education, in 2004. She has been a regular contributor to the Chronicle of Higher Education’s “Beyond the Ivory Tower” column since 2002.
