POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Asian American Cultural Center - Graduate Assistantship 2008-09
Type of Position: This appointment will be for 50%-time with a monthly stipend of no less than $1492.22 per month, for the period August 16, 2008 – May 15, 2009, for a total of $13,430 over nine months.  A tuition waiver may be possible, depending on the graduate field of study.

Description: The graduate assistant will work primarily on educational and cultural programming for Asian American students, faculty/staff, alumni, and community members.  The GA also will assist in many aspects of the daily operations and administration of the Asian American Cultural Center.  Regular evening and weekend work is expected.  Browse our website for more details: www.odos.uiuc.edu/aacc.

Qualifications:
* Strong demonstrated commitment to Asian American community issues, as shown through leadership experiences with Asian American student organizations, community service, and academic coursework.
* Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team, and ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative.
* Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
* Enrollment in any graduate program at UIUC during the period August 2008 – May 2009.
* Preference may be given to those seeking a career in student affairs, higher education administration, or in a related field.
* Must apply for federal student aid through completion of the FAFSA.  Preference will be for students who are eligible for federal work study.

* Send cover letter detailing your interest and qualifications, a current resume or curriculum vitae, and contact information for three references.  Indicate in the letter whether you are eligible for federal work-study.
